Why do you love UCI?

I didn’t know what to expect coming to college; I started attending UCI the first year back after the COVID quarantining period, so my perception of schooling was definitely frazzled. I dormed my first year in the Mesa Court towers, and it was then that I met my life-long friends! To this day, I still hang out with the people that I met during my first year at UCI despite converting into a commuter for my second and third year of college. I have been very fortunate to have met such wonderful and good people that I could fill my college memories with. Not only do I greatly appreciate my first-year college friends, recently as I have moved into my more upper-division courses within my school, I have grown a lot closer with the people at my separate school outside of my other friends. It has been very nice growing with people with the same career goals and interests as you, as UCI has provided such a dynamic and inclusive environment. Overall, the people at UCI has been where it’s at!

How can you be a successful Anteater?

Being a successful Anteater is definitely subjective; the great thing about college is having so many pathways to become successful through. My perception of a successful Anteater is someone who discovered themselves. Something that I noticed amongst the friends that I have made at UCI was that everyone I have met has discovered what they like to do and what they are good at. My best friend, for example, has been excelling in her philosophy and political science classes despite struggling in other math and stem courses back in high school. I struggled in English and writing in high school and am finding my way and love for marketing in the business setting. Another one of my friends ended up completely changing majors and enjoying his new major much more now. The path to self-discovery has been a wonderful journey to watch my friends achieve, and I feel that a successful Anteater is one that works to find and discover their passions while at UCI.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

A fun fact about myself is that I love to play board games in my free time! My recent go-to has been Monopoly and Throw Throw Avocado 🙂
