Why do you love UCI?

I love UCI because it has always been my dream school. I love being an anteater. Not only is the university incredibly beautiful but it is also rigorous while being supportive. As a first-generation transfer student, I did not anticipate having so much support and access to wonderful resources in higher education as I have at UCI. I love how UCI prioritizes inclusivity and sustainability which are two core values I hold. I have had enriching experiences with my peers, professors, counselors, and everyone who makes UCI the supportive and lively environment that is easy to thrive in.

How can you be a successful Anteater?

Successful anteaters find themselves taking advantage of the many opportunities that provide students with hands on experience in their interests. Whether it’s clubs, research, organizations, or courses. There are incredible resources available for students whether it’s academic or personal. I also find that successful anteaters are not afraid to reach out to Professors and take advantage of office hours to ask for extra help and guidance. Also, it’s a great opportunity to get to know your professors.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

A fun fact about me is that I enjoy collecting books. Especially first edition books. I have a first edition Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck from 1939 that I got a from an estate sale. It’s one of my most prized possessions. I also enjoy collecting records and spend a ton of time rifling through books and records at estate sales.
