Why do you love UCI?

I love UCI because of the many opportunities and resources it has for students to learn and grow. I was very nervous about starting classes at UCI, but the advising information helped me feel supported and ready to take on the challenge. Additionally, the diversity of courses you can take here can introduce you to new fields that can become passions. I found that within my love for literature there is also a strong love for history and linguistics! Also, I love Aldrich Park – who doesn’t? It is the best place to read and relax on campus!

How can you be a successful Anteater?

Being a successful Anteater is all about being involved and present. That does not necessarily mean being apart of many clubs or on-campus organizations. It more so means being aware of everything UCI has to offer, and taking advantage of those great resources! Make the most of your time at UCI in ways that are meaningful to you.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

A fun fact about me is my name! My name, Loia, is an old family name that has been passed down for over a century. We believe it was once a nickname for Louisa, and it was originally the name of my great-great-great-great-great grandmother’s best friend.
