Why do you love UCI?

I love UCI the same way I love my parents, siblings, and close relatives: they help me to express myself through my desires and to find my place in the community. I have met so many people from different backgrounds going down different career pathways and despite how different they may be from me, they are largely what shaped who I am now. The diverse set of on-campus organizations as well as the large selection of course topics also aid in finding those close to me and sparking unseen interests. I feel at home in a new family at UCI.

How can you be a successful Anteater?

Figuring out college life was (and still is) a stressful and confusing process and going into UCI carrying what little knowledge I had obtained up to that point didn’t help in soothing that fear. However, one of the main takeaways I gradually learned is that there will be people out there who will help you and there will be enough time to work towards who you want to be. The mentality of having to find out what you want to do and get to that position as fast as possible is one that, I believe, leads to an overall less fulfilling college experience. College is a series of trials and errors, one that isn’t inherently designed for one person to complete on their own and one that deserves as much time and attention as it needs to be successful.

What is one fun fact about yourself?

My parents got my name from the Home Alone series, which are my favorite Christmas movies. They thought I’d be like that kid. I like to think they at least partially got their wish.
