Personal Biography
Why do you love UCI?
I love UCI because along with its prestigious reputation, it truly does bring together unique individuals with so many rich cultures and experiences. As a first-generation student I had no idea what I was doing when I first got here, but luckily UCI’s outreach program for first-gen students is so welcoming and offers a ton of resources. Specific opportunities within the different schools and programs are also abundant, and I still find myself surprised by just how much this university has to offer students.
How can you be a successful Anteater?
To me, being a successful Anteater means figuring out what you want, and making sure you get there. I definitely did not know what I wanted when I first got here, I switched from my major in Computer Science to a double in Earth System Science and Film & Media Studies before figuring out where my passions and talents aligned and arriving at my current majors and minor. That’s why it’s so important to use every resource, reach out to services like Peer Academic Advising to get advice first-hand from students who’ve been in the same position, and give UCI a run for its money! Being a successful Anteater is honestly about realizing your own potential by doing what’s best for you, also knowing how and when to ZOT (don’t ask me why that’s the sound an anteater makes, I don’t know either)!
What is one fun fact about yourself?
I love music with a burning passion. One of my favorite things in the world, along with overusing my Unlimited pass at the UTC Regal theater and spending way too long in libraries and bookstores, is going to concerts! In this school year alone I’ve gone to 8 concerts (and counting)! There is nothing quite like the feeling of bass rumbling in your chest or moving and singing along with your favorite musicians LIVE! The Observatory in Santa Ana (15 minutes from UCI) has been my favorite venue so far!
